Yes of course. They'll ask for your payment method for your trial. This is to prevent people from creating multiple accounts just to get the trial. They also use it to automatically charge you at the end of the trial.

The payment methods will be listed on the website. Generally speaking, yes you need a credit card but PayPal should also work.
You can get a prepaid credit card type of gift card that should work also.
