The starter in my 2007 BMW has been slowing dying, and it finally kicked the bucket last week. I swapped the starter Sunday, and now my car?

Seems to run better than it did before the swap. Is this totally in my head, or can a better start effect how well the engine runs overall. To be clear, it seemed to run just fine before he swap, except that the startup was slower and clunkier. Just curious. Thanks!

I assume that you disconnected your battery.

If the BMW ECM/ECU/PCM (computer) is like American cars, then you lost all your stored drivability data and the computer is relearning. This is the only reason that I can think of that the car would run differently. Usually the car would run worse than it used to, and slowly run better.

It's all imagined. The starter cannot have anything to do with how well an engine runs after it is started.

A bad starter can stress electrics so yeah you probably fixed the issue

It is in your head. The starter has NO MORE JOB when the engine is already running.

The starter just cranks the motor. It doesn't affect the way it runs.

The computer reset when the battery lead was disconnected. Could have changed the operating parameters It will re-learn will start to feel the same again.
