I think it will be a much better tournament than people are imagining. What we need to do is to accept what has happened.

Corruption happens everywhere, and happens in the awarding of every sports tournament.

Workers rights are infringed all across the developed world, it's just that this is getting more publicity because it's the World Cup and it sells papers. The workers know the risks and go into things with their eyes open. The alternative is usually for them to die in poverty in their homelands.

The tournament will be switched to winter when it will be a much more equable 27c and sunny. To get round the league disruption, associations will look at what happens when the rugby World Cup is on.

Qatar has sharia law, yes, but talk of beheadings is wide of the mark. There is more to that concept than the media tells you, but that of course doesn't sell papers; beheadings do. Fans will be allowed to drink alcohol, mix with each other and dress as they wish. Any violence or stupidity will be cracked down on, but that's the same everywhere else. Qatar will want to portray itself as open and friendly because it will depend on tourism once oil revenue runs out.

What's done is done. When we rally agains that, it causes us stress and resentment. When we accept circumstances, we give them a chance to impact our lives positively.

It's a joke, they should never have been picked. How many people have died already working to build stadiums in those conditions. FIFA=Corruption.

Well, the process of preparation infringed on all basic human rights of the workers. Hope Qatar is banned from the next five world cup editions, while every country gets one cup win to their names, as a remedy to this abomination, modern day slavery.

FIFA will have to cancel the World Cup as there is a likelihood of unrest in the Middle East. Playing any sport in extreme temperatures can have fatal consequences

  • I think it'll be a complete fiasco. The standard of play won't be well, you'll see a raft of club teams complain about the event, and I'll guess at least 2 or 3 dominant teams end up losing players to injury as a result.

Unfortunately, yes.Money and bribery are rife within football now.Everyone knows football is best played in a temperate to warm climates, not extreme heat or cold for that matter. It is free flowing sport and in Qatar there will regular water breaks which will kill momentum in the game.Terrible decision to hold it there.
