The method is unimportant. The goal is the only focus.

Trump did not cave. The Republican Senate did. Try to keep up.

Because Congress is > not < going to pass a budget bill, which has to be signed by the President. They are going to pass a "continuing resolution", which simply re-authorizes the budget the President already signed. The President CAN refuse to sign the CR, but that rarely happens since it IS simply a continuation of the budget he already signed.

Trump just wanted attention because he’s a big narcissist.

He likes the drama he causes with statements like that. He liked having both parties hanging on his words waiting for what was going to happen. BUT he blames Schumer for "making" him say he would shut the government down. Pelosi and Schumer won, Trump lost.
