I was 16 when I had my first boyfriend. He was 17.

The younger we are when we start dating, the less emotionally-mature we are, and so the more likely we will end up heartbroken.

And every heartbreak has up building a protective "wall" around our heart .. which makes us LESS able to open up to love, and more likely to break up again.

In fact, dating too early, when too immature, can make us SO "damaged" that we are not able to sustain a lasting relationship throughout our adult life.

Yes, 14, is too young. Even 16 is on the edge of too-young.

Those people who have bf at 9/10 are not likely to be able to make a relationship last a lifetime.

Youngggg relationships don't count. I had TWO "boyfriends" at the same time when I was 10, if that stuff counted, but it doesn't. To answer your question, I was 17 and he was 14. He asked me out 3 days after my 17th birthday. We had a class together in high school. We broke up after 2 and a half weeks because he was REALLY immature and I saw him as more of a best friend. After we broke up, I was single almost 2 years. I was close to 19 and boyfriend was 23 when I received my FIRST EVER KISS! Don't be in such a rush. Most people who "dated" a guy at your age are likely no longer with that person or won't be with that person any longer. The long-lasting, serious relationships happen in college.

I had my first boyfriend at 14, but I wish I hadn't. Everything was rushed, it didn't go anywhere, it was all a really foolish idea that I did for popularity at my school. However, I know friends who really grew as a person from dating around 13-14, but it is not necessary! I'd only be in a relationship if you truly like the person, and want to get to know them, but you are young so no need to rush into anything :)

Yeah my first relationship was when I was 14 as well, I don't really think that's too young at all. My cousin has been dating the same girl since 8th grade and they're both seniors in college now, so it's certainly possible to have a real relationship at that age.

Yeah people have relationships at many ages. I'm 19 and never had a girlfriend.
