It should have gone like this: Eve took the fruit off the tree, Adam immediately takes the fruit away from her and consults God on how to handle the situation. God tells Adam to have a chat with Eve and remind her that God said not to eat the fruit and don't do that again, we want to please God. Adam failed. And Eve did what the heck she wanted to do because she didn't seek her husband while she was being tempted by the serpent. She thought she knew.
