our company has just been taken over and they are moving our pay from a fixed date to every four weeks is there anything we can do about it?
My firm has 6,500 employees who are paid the same day every month. In a few months the new company are going to move the pay date to every four weeks.
so every paydate each month is a few days earlier so is constantly moving backwards making direct debits a nightmare and in my case my average goes from 1800 / 1700 to 1500 for 2 months then 1800 then 1500 for another two and so on. No existing employee wants this change is their any way we can appeal it?

every 4 weeks is an odd schedule.
There are 4 pay schedules which are considered standard or common:
weekly (paid same day of the week every week)
bi-weekly (paid same day of the week, every other week)
semi monthly (twice per month)
monthly (same date each month)
I've never heard of paying every 4th week.
After some quick Google searching I can't find anything that definitively requires an employer to use one of the 4 standard schedules. If monthly pay was legal and acceptable in the past, then switching to every 4th week means you are paid (slightly) more frequently. I can't imagine why it would be illegal to pay more frequently. If they were making the pay less frequent you might have a valid complaint.
I suggest you search your state's labor department website, and if you can't find anything, then contact them directly and ask.

You can ask for it to be changed...but you have absolutely no authority whatsoever...Your option is to quit...

So you are getting your money earlier... why are you and the other employees complaining abut getting your money earlier?
If an employee told me that they don't like this method because they live paycheck to paycheck and can't figure out how to manage their bank account with this method, I would show the employee the door. If they can't figure this out, then they likely aren't skilled enough to do the job I'm paying them for.

It's the company's decision when to pay, not the employees'. You'll need to budget your money to keep some back from the bigger paychecks to cover you for the smaller ones. There is nothing you can do to change it.

That's an internal company decision. You would need to take it up with HR and your management chain.

You could quit.
Talk to the managers. However, it is ultimately up to the company.
Every month is 12 pay periods a year. Every 4 weeks is 13 pay periods a year. In the long run, it works out the same. It is not their problem if employees can't manage their money.
