Geometry question! Seriously this is not homework!?

For work I need to figure out the dimensions of a 12 dided polygon!

I need to make a cover for a piece of equipment at work!

I need to make a 12 sided polygon with the diameter of each pie section from flat side to flat side is supposed to be 33 inches! And according to my measurements the width of each flat side should be 9 inches!

But every time I try to draw it out the angles and lines don't match up!

So I'm trying to figure out if my measurements are accurate or not?

Thanks for any help and altercations to my measurements!

Your polygon is 12 sided. Each angle will be 360/12=30 degrees. The flat side should be 9 inches and length between two flat side is 33 inches. The triangle one side has the vertical distance 16.5 inches. The radius of the circle will be sqrt(4.5^2+16.5^2)=17.10 inches. You must draw a circle of radius =17.1 inches. Draw radial lines at 30 degrees. Then you will get the pie size that you have mentioned.

"the diameter of each pie section from flat side to flat side" ??

not clear what this means. Diameter applies to circles only. All the sides of the section are flat.

What are you doing it for then?
