If writers get accepted to be published, do they have to go all the way where the main office of the publisher is to sign the contract?

    I've had 9 books done by one publisher (plus 2 many years ago by two other publishers), and have never met a single person from the publisher. Everything done by email.

    No. It can be done by fax or mail.

    Yes, they do. The standard method is to hire a bullock cart and drive across country for weeks on end.

    No. My publisher was in the U.S., I'm in Europe. We did everything online/email.

    No, you can sign a contract with your literary agent or with a notary.

    No. I’ve never met my publisher, seen their offices, talked to an editor. It’s all email.

    It's the 21st Century, contracts can be signed using computers. Depends on corporate policy I suppose, but it is possible.

    It's 2019, not 1919. Everything can be handled without having to be face to face.
