is it worth filing form SS-8 if I know I'll win? if so why and what should I expect?

    Yes. IF you are treated as a contractor and are not, you are paying about an extra 8% in taxes.

    The payer will also be sent a similar form to fill out from their point of view. Then the IRS decides

    If the IRS decides in your favor, you pay 7.65% in payroll tax.

    If the IRS decides in their favor, you pay 15.3% in self-employment tax.
