is it a bad idea to cook food over a burning christmas tree? (ours is some kind of fir)?

Update:

obviously i'm not just setting the tree on fire in my house and roasting marshmallows on it or something. i like to use the wood from our christmas trees in our fire pit, and i want to know if it's safe to cook and eat food over the flames.

Update 2:

you guys suck. some trees can be harmful to your health when burned, i just want to make sure that firs AREN'T before i go using the wood in my campfire. is it really that hard to understand that instead of dumping the tree on the curb, i'd rather cut it up and use the wood for something?

No, it will probably make the food taste better. In the days before coal became the main fuel, people would cook in front of open fires and the woodsmoke added to the flavour.

    Is that really necessary?

Evergreens give off smoke and fumes which may not taste good.

It’s perfectly fine! Make sure to keep the Christmas lights and ornaments on for a stronger fire (also for excellent food). Douse the tree in gasoline and watch that baby burn!
