What is the cheapest way to go back home?
A few months ago I moved to Denver and I’ve decided I don’t like it and want to go back home to Portland. I need to leave as soon as possible, because my roommate here is abusive and also my grandmother might be sick and I want to spend time with her in case something happens. I don’t have enough to break my lease and afford a moving truck right now. Mom says I can stay with her for a few months if I come home, so I can save up for a new place once I’m home. Maybe I could afford it in a few months but I don’t want to wait that long. I want to leave as soon as I can. I hate it here. What are some cheap alternatives to a moving truck?

You must be in your late teens or early 20's?
You sell or donate everything that you can. I get it you "hate" it there, but sometimes you have to suck it up and you have to learn to be patient. It can take up to six months before you start to feel comfortable somewhere. If you haven't been there that long you need to make it your goal to at least try. Also if you break your lease, when the new rental place you apply at verifies your lease with the current landlord they will see you broke the lease which will make it hard for you to find another place.
How long have you been there and how is your roommate allegedly abusive?

Put your stuff in storage and buy yourself a Greyhound bus ticket. Once you get enough money saved up, you can travel back to Denver to retrieve your stuff.

Do you have a car? Rent a U-Haul trailer and just move the most valuable stuff. Or sell the car and rent a U-Haul truck. When I moved from Pennsylvania to Los Angeles fifty years ago I bought a used pickup, rented a trailer and drove it, then sold the truck for about half price.

Borrow someone's pick up truck.
Rent a Uhaul it's cheap.
