  • What is the cheapest way to go back home?

A few months ago I moved to Denver and I’ve decided I don’t like it and want to go back home to Portland. I need to leave as soon as possible, because my roommate here is abusive and also my grandmother might be sick and I want to spend time with her in case something happens. I don’t have enough to break my lease and afford a moving truck right now. Mom says I can stay with her for a few months if I come home, so I can save up for a new place once I’m home. Maybe I could afford it in a few months but I don’t want to wait that long. I want to leave as soon as I can. I hate it here. What are some cheap alternatives to a moving truck?

  • How to wash a computer bag?

My cat peed on my nice computer bag. It is made of cloth, but it also has that plasticy rubber material outlining each compartment, and I don’t feel throwing it in a washer would be good for it. I feel like hand washing it wouldn’t do much as the material is thick and layered and I want to get deep into the fabric or else it won’t be throughly clean. What do y’all recommend?

  • How to move out with little money?

I don’t have enough money to break the lease and pay the deposit and rent on a new place. But me and my cats are in danger. My roommate is emotionally abusive and keeps threatening physical harm. I tried calling the cops, they won’t help me until someone is actually hurt. But understand that I love my cats, and am scared for them. I don’t want to wait until something happens to them. I want to get out for their safety, and for mine.

How can I move out with no where to go and little money?

  • Should I file police report if someone threatened my pets?

My roommate is crazy and she threatens me. I am trying to move out, but it’s a costly process and I simply have no where to go immediately. But crazy ***** threatened to kill my cats! I got it on video too. Do you think this will help me break my lease? Should I file a police report?

  • How to break a lease without making myself look bad to future rentals?

Me and my roommate are equals on a lease. She is dangerous(and I have evidence), and I am trying to move out. I don’t want this to affect my credit score, and I don’t want my rental history to look bad. I am trying to get out of an abusive situation. There has to be a way to break the lease without backlash.

  • Emergency housing that allows cats?

I need a place to go NOW. I fear my roommate will harm me or my beloved cats. I have evidence of her making threats. I need somewhere to go for safety but don’t know where to look.

  • How to make a lot of money in a few months?

I need 3000-4000 in just a few months. My state doesn’t have bottle deposit, so that’s not an option. I don’t have anything valuable to sell. And getting a loan just isn’t a good idea for me. I don’t have a car, so I can’t do ride sharing.

I think probably I’ll do work at the temp agency on my days off, but it will completely mess up my sleep schedule, and will at most get me an extra $300.

    Any ideas?

  • Something ring the water out of clothes with?

I was really poor one day, and did my laundry by hand. I realized I really preferred that method anyway and have been doing it ever since. The only problem I have is I can never seem to ring out enough water when done, and water gets on the floor. I need something I can squeeze the water out with before hanging them up. Any ideas?

  • Trying to get tax transcripts from irs.gov. When are they not under maintenance?

I go to the link where it says to get transcript online. Then I click the link to the form, and can’t access it because the site is ‘under maintenance’. I need these docs ASAP! I have been trying for a few days now! When are they not going to be under maintenance??

  • How to convince roommate not to wake me up?

She woke me up to yell at me for using her toothbrush(I didn’t even use her toothbrush). I told her I didn’t use it and not to wake me up like this again(I had to be up in 4 hours and had had enough trouble falling asleep the first time and had trouble falling back asleep) and instead of apologizing or saying she wouldn’t do it again she got defensive and started telling me everything I did wrong, some of which wasn’t even true.

How do I get her to understand it’s not okay to wake me up like this?

  • Does a verbal contract require a witness?

I have a verbal agreement with my roommate. I borrowed money from her, and she wants me to pay her back faster than I can afford to. The only real guideline in the original agreement is that I pay her back when I can. I tell her I am not breaking the agreement by paying her back slowly. She says the verbal agreement doesn’t mean anything because there are no witnesses and that’s i have to pay her back now. Do I really need a witness for the original agreement to count?

Also, she’s threatening to not pay rent if I don’t pay her back faster. In this event, how can I kick her out?

  • Should I have to not use scented stuff because my roommate is allergic?

I’ll be honest, I hate her guts, so my judgement isn’t good, I need advice on this. My roommate says she is allergic to scented things and insists I do not use them. No essential oils(I only use for the scent), no air fresheners, no scented soaps. I love this stuff though, and I feel as though I should be allowed to use them in my own room. I already am respecting her needs by waiting till she wakes up to cook(I work at night and therefore am awake at night and sleep in the day). She does not respect my requests to stop name calling and yelling at me. Because of her anger issues, I am uncomfortable around her and have difficulty bringing up anything that bothers me. I feel as though my needs are not respected while I am always respecting hers. I would really appreciate if I was allowed to use essential oils in my own damn room to kill stress.

  • How to get away from a potentially dangerous roommate?

My roommate has been not nice since we moved in. It developed into her having fits of anger that get worse and worse. I am scared she will get violent and harm me and my stuff. I told her last time that if she got mad and threw my stuff again or came close to damaging something, I’d call the cops. I also plan to record it for evidence. But it would be nice if I wasn’t constantly worried she’d get to that point again. I want out, before I get hurt or my stuff gets damaged.

The problem is, I have no money or even a car to get my stuff out. I’m saving every cent I can, but I won’t have enough for at least a few months.

What should I do? I’ve been trying to avoid fighting by simply speaking to her as little as possible. But like I’m very uncomfortable when she’s home. I am afraid to even go cook myself food when she’s home because me cooking is what she got mad about last time when she almost broke my door down. I am very miserable. What should I do?
