How common are double barrel surnames?

    More common than they used to be. They are often used when the parents choose to combine their surnames for a child. Other parents choose to use the mother's surname as a middle name and the father's surname as the last name. Examples:

    Justin Baker Jones

    Justin Thomas Baker-Jones
