How should Christian parents respond if one of their children comes out as gay?

If a child reveals his or her homosexuality, the first thing for Christian parents to do is let their child know that, no matter what, love and grace will win the day. Mom and dad’s love will continue, regardless. First John 4:8 says, “The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” “God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance” (Romans 2:4).

I’d spank his butt and tell him to straighten up his act or else....

The same thing any parents should do: love their children with all their hearts, accept them fully exactly as they are, teach them to love, accept, and feel pride in themselves for who they are, and support and encourage them in finding all the happiness and love they can with the person they fall in love with regardless of that person's gender.

Tbh i think most parents of gay kids already have a clue. If not they are likely in denial.

Id treat them the same as before. Id teach all my kids against promiscuity and using people gay or straight. Life is hard enough so why add more problems?

Ignore the old testament?

Leviticus 20:13

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

The way they act I imagine they are happy. They can take the child to church so that he can listen to a homosexual preach the word of god.

You tell them how much you love them and then take them out for ice cream and books

A lot of the response would be based on their age

But basically:

1. Let them know they will never be rejected as your child (Don't burn any bridges)

2. Let them know you will never accept their lifestyle choice, that they are never to bring around any boy friends or girl friends (depending). And there will be no discussion of or display of that lifestyle as long as they are living under your roof (do not accept their choice)

There's nothing to respond to that I see. They're your children and it is what it is.

Accept them.
