Ok, everyone with this negative energy. Kids are kids ok. They may not know everything so you all don't have to have these unnecessary outbursts. But anyways to anwser your question no, it's not possible to die when you fall asleep. Your brain stays active and your heart still pumps while you are sleep. I'm sorry for how people are coming at you. Thank you!

Not in less your friend is using the word “die” in some kind of metaphorical sense, as far as I’m concerned.....not anymore than experienced meditators “die” when they go into an extremely deep meditative state. Your brain waves just change, that’s all. Your consciousness is altered but not eliminated. After all, you can dream so you must still be conscious, just not in the same way as when you’re awake. Your brain waves go from “beta” to “delta”. Beta is the normal waking state. Delta is the state of deep sleep. When you’re under hypnosis or doing meditation, your brain waves might go into the “alpha” frequency. So it’s just a change in brain wave frequency and you experience “reality” differently as a result, but not necessarily a state of dying. And I’m not even going into the metaphysical or quantum physics aspects of any of this and start talking about “near death experiences” that people have returned from, or “non-local” consciousness theory. That would just complicate matters

Oh so neither of you have heard of nightmares and dreams?, or even snoring?.....the closest condition to death is a coma, but it has much more in common with sleep, death is permanant, it also means you are no longer a person or even a human being you're a corpse, an innaminate object, void of any conscienceness, the only thing important about a dead corpse, is what it used to be and those memories, of who that person was...
When you actually go to someones funeral you will both suddenly realise what death means..

You lose consciousness but you don't stop breathing, your heart pumps blood and your brain continues to function. If you are dead, you don't wake up.

But only if the village priest is awake to cast the revive spell. Otherwise you really do die. So I understand your friend's confusion.
