I did temp work for 2 years. It completely depends on if they get you a posting for full time long term or not. Many jobs are short term (a few weeks) and part time. Try to be with an agency that has 'temp to hire' meaning that the place you're working in can buy your contract and then you work for them.

Me personally, I don't find temping feasible for my lifestyle. In theory, it's better than nothing, but in reality, it's almost the same. Nothing.

Temps guarantee nothing. No assignment, no set length of time on a job, and or hours.

Often times the pay is considerably less than if u were hired directly, and somtimes it's higher, often times it's less.

There are little to no benefits, such as insurance, PTO, holiday pay, etc.

For me, it wasn't worth continuously being unemployed if the contract ended or no work was available.

I worked at big name corporations when I did temp, but I was never hired on and it was usually due to no more work. I fared better getting directly hired and not going thru temp services.

The downside of working in a temporary capacity is that your assignment can end at any moment, for any reason but in theory you could make the same argument about any job because we're all at will (employer and employee). If you're working with a temp agency then they will likely find you a new assignment when your current assignment ends unless it ends due to your own fault. Also most temp agencies do not offer benefits, insurance, PTO, etc. which can make it much harder to "live off of" if you have to pay out of pocket for your own insurance/ medical coverage.

It's up to you, where you are, what they pay, and what you are doing.

You can if you have decent skills and they can give you long term or serial assignments. If your skills are limited it's harder for them to place you. For some people, the temp assignments work well with their lifestyle. Some people use them as a stepping stone for temp-to-hire positions. The only drawback is that they sometimes don't pay very well. Most will offer benefits if you work enough and you may qualify for unemployment once you've worked enough.

The best thing is you can choose when to work or have a few weeks off.

    Nothing wrong with them.

Depends on you - you do what is best for YOU - not what we or anyone else thinks.

I have a friend who lost one job when the company went out of business and another job when it was bought out by a larger company. Both times she worked at a temp agency and both times she got herself a permanent job with companies she was assigned to work for.

Temp jobs are a great way to have employment periodically if that is what you want and it can also be a great way to get hired on a permanent basis - if they like you and your work. If you don't currently have a job, a temp job is better than nothing.

No and yes. Why are you concerned with what others think? If it works for you then fkin do it, otherwise if it doesnt, then change things. Good grief!

My wife did for a long time. She made better money a lot of time than she would have at a regular job.
