How do I shift my car into Turbo?

I bought a Golf TDI from some guy and he said it came with a turbocharger, but I cannot figure out how to shift my car into turbo. Is it integrated into one of the five gears of the H shifter (let's say 4th gear is run off of the turbocharger) or did I get scammed and the car doesn't actually have a turbo?

It's sort of like a secret handshake. You lift up on the shift lever while stepping on the clutch, brake and accelerator all simultaneously. It's the opposite of how to stop a Model T, again, step on all three pedals. You'll know the turbo has engaged when you see a beam of blue turbo-laser light behind you. Either that, or it's a cop.

Tell him he doesn't need no steenking badges because you're not as thunk as drinkle peep.

A turbo charger is set up so it only kicks in at full throttle. Which means you have to have the throttle pedal all the way down!

It's hidden in the windscreen wiper stalk. What you have to do is turn the wipers on to their fastest setting, (I can't remember if that's up or down, I've not had a VW for about 5 years). There is one more setting past that and it turns the turbo on.You have to press it really hard (for safety you don't want to accidentally turn it on in a car park), until there is a very loud click. Your turbo is now on.

The turbo is built into the exhaust system and has nothing to do with what gear you're in.

TDI is VW for "turbo direct injection." All TDIs are turbo'd. It activates automatically as you drive, always producing intake boost at speeds much above idle.

A diesel without a turbo would be so slow you would be better off driving a golf cart

Raise the hood and look. Turbos are large and obvious. TDI means turbo. The turbocharger works automatically and you don't need to switch it on and off.

If there's not a T on the gearshift, you were scammed.

Is your turbo fluid reservoir full, or it could be the muffler bearings are shot.

Are you running turbo fuel? It'll kick in automatically when the car detects it.
