Oswald used a Carcano Model 1891/1938 carbine manufactured in Italy in 1940. It is unknown exactly how far he was from Kennedy when he fired the first shot, because there is no evidence that it struck anything. The second and third shots are estimated to have traveled 180 feet and 265 feet.
