is horse manure mixed with straw bedding classed as a brown or green when making compost?

    Very much "green", as the horse manure is very high in nitrogen, which is what decides the green/brown label: high nitrogen is green, low nitrogen but high carbon in brown.

    The straw itself is technically "brown", but it is greatly outweighed by the nitrogen content of the manure, so the overall mix is still definitely "green" not neutral.

    green compost because it is organic
