Sunni leaders are considered sellouts by Sunnis. When the Saudi government tries to normalise relations with Israel, it is not driven by religious commitment but by political expediency. I do believe the Koran is tolerant of Jews and Christians but only to a degree.

In practice, this means allowing them to practice their faith and to run their own affairs as they see fit but to pay some tax in return for military protection. As for Israel, the situation is complicated by the fact that the Zionists drove out the Arab settlers from there.
