Does the Christian God want us to suffer ever? Is suffering ever important and necessary?
Several Christians always seem to say that God absolutely does not want us to suffer, but those same Christians also say that suffering sometimes is necessary or something like that. I also know many Christians that subtly worship pain in words like "love until it hurts".
Also asking because so many early Christians had such violent deaths in the first years after Christ left.

Through the Fall, self has taken the throne of the heart, so removal of that through taking up your cross necessarily involves suffering.
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

What I find is that God wants us to trust him, whether we are suffering or not. But when we are suffering, trust him more.
I know, Christians say a lot of things. But God said something to let me see how this is all done.
Psalm 37
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

How are you defining "suffering"? Some people claim to suffer because of sore knees while others have no legs. Some people claim to suffer because of slow internet connections or a low paying job. Some suffer because they have no car.
When you say "suffer"... what do you mean?

If a god exists that is omnipotent and omniscient, any suffering that happens can only happen if the god wants it to happen.

Healing was as much a part of the atonement for sin as salvation is.
Through belief - through faith in God that healing has ALREADY happened - people appropriate that healing. No one can 'twist God's arm' to heal them....
And if God WANTS us to suffer.... because we learn from it... then give me cancer! Because I want to learn! If God wanted people to suffer.... why would you ever pray for healing?
Satan has robbed the churches of the knowledge.... do you think there was an expiry date on miracles?
Doctors and pills are great for people who don't believe God has healed them.... there'd be a lot of dead Christians without them.
PS. When I learned this, I was instantly cured of a deadly disease in my body... and haven't had so much as a headache since: 11 years and counting.

That's a LIE.

It seems he even wants infants and little children to suffer and die before age 4.
MILLIONS of them... every year!
What a neat god you believe in.
