What did you think of Kristen Stewart's acting in Snow White and the Huntsman?

She seems to be able to mumble, frown, keep a look of pain on her face through most of the movie, much like The Twilight series...that's about it.

She got exposed in this movie as an actress with virtually no range.

    Massively overshadowed by Charlize Theron

She never seems to enjoy her work. I watch Chris Hemsworth in the same movie, see the enjoyment he has with such a hero role. I see Charlize Theron hamming it up and virtually stealing that movie, as well she should have. Stewart seems annoyed she has to act for peasants. That's what I get from her, that she'd rather not be bothered. I liked her in Adventureland, but her real life persona seemed to fit the part.

In the Twilight series, she did as she was asked. Bella had the charisma and life of a dead rock. Stewart had little or nothing to play with here, but she's also not a showboat actress like Theron. A Judi Dench-type would have turned Bella into a bravura layered nuanced marvel to watch over four movies. Emma Stone would have given us a Bella to actually root for. We also, as a society, tend to bash anything that's written for teenage girls. Stewart was already condemned before that first frame played of Twilight.

In Snow White and the Huntsman, again, we get a character that's supposed to inspire and motivate others to action. As well as taking action herself. Giving a heroic speech is the height of cringe-worthy absurdity when your face clearly telegraphs you'd rather be alone somewhere working on a scrapbook. When you are hoping the evil queen wins the day, the problem is casting. A different actress in this role would have made this movie. They needed to find a real foil to Theron, who's entire character revolved around her looks and her power. Find an actress twenty years younger, that makes grown men sport boners and vows to follow her into battle who can match Theron's energy levels, acting chops and looks...wow.

Also, what if Snow White had teamed up with the evil queen to rule the kingdom, as the two took on the patriarchy around them that made them adopt two such narrow, stifling roles as old crone and young disposable virgin princess? Now those would be fun parts for actresses. A lot more fun for those watching.

I think she has blocked sinuses, because her mouth is ALWAYS open.

In the Twilight series she played Bella exactly as the character was portrayed in the book.

I know people criticised her for that, but she's actually a very good actor.

I don't know about Snow White, but she was excellent in The Panic Room.

Okay, she's not in the Maggie Smith, Judi Dench league, but not many actors are!

I doubt she'll be remembered as a great actress years from now. She was fortunate enough to star in a popular tween franchise...........that's about it.
