Biblical prophecy?

Ok so I am an atheist because I left the church YEARS ago. But here is my question. Every few years I hear people (including my family) talk about the end times, "its coming" they say. But like I only ever here it every few years so if Christians really believed it wouldn't they talk about nonstop and wouldn't they try a lot harder to go to heaven if they believed it? also John The Apostle said in the bible "It will happen in my time" and yet it didn't soooo like some one explain this to me thanks

Here is your question - in reference to the biblical "end times"

"...so if Christians really believed it wouldn't they talk about nonstop and wouldn't they try a lot harder to go to heaven if they believed it?"

Most people that I encounter prefer to think that the biblical "end times" are far into their futures - so they can go on with their lives without anxiety. But they don't even understand what is meant by the biblical "endtimes." They mistakenly think that the term refers to the end of the world - but scripture states that the world will never end.

Ecc 1:4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

Eph 3:21 Unto God the Father be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

So what then are they? The actual Greek word is "aion" (uh-HEE-un). It actually means age not world. Compare English "eon" meaning a long but definite period of time. The Greek word for world is kosmos .

So the Bible speaks of the end of the AGE - not of the world. Which age? The age of the OT law. We entered a NEW AGE with the Advent of Christ - called the Age of Gods Grace.

    >.also John The Apostle said in the bible "It will happen in my time" <,

Share your passage please. We'd like to see it for ourselves.

The greatest sign was when Israel became a nation in one day . But now we have the top scientist believing in quantum physics and it's theory that there has to be some Intelligent Ultimate Observer who is doing the manipulation of all matter .

About 50 years ago Hal Lindsey wrote, "The Late Great Planet Earth". It was all about the Biblical end times. All my Christian friends ate it up... So did I... We were so sure that we were very, very, close to the rapture. Ever since then I have followed dozens of end times predictions. They were all bogus.

It seems that Christians have been expecting the end times since Jesus' resurrection. So we have 2000 years of end times, and the end times just keep coming.

It seems that Christians love to live for the end of days.

Here's a good list for you:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_predic...

This was a good one: Camping predicted that the Rapture and devastating earthquakes would occur on 21 May 2011, with God taking approximately 3% of the world's population into Heaven, and that the end of the world would occur five months later on October 21.

As I recall, Christians were out on their lawn chairs waiting for the return of Christ.

My coworker's wife would not consider life insurance because the end of days was coming.

After his prophecy failed to come true he changed the date to 27 May 2012.

He made a boat load of money from that one.

I went out to watch the blood moon prophecy on Apr 2014–Sep 2015. It was canceled due to cloud cover.

The next one is June 9 with the return of Christ.

I'm willing to place bets on June 9 as well.

Source(s): Now, provide a deity. Whether it be from the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or Scientologist religion Send it over to my place for dinner so it can prove itself worthy of worship. Why would either of us accept less?

It's talked about when people see things in the world that they see in bible prophecy. I have TONS to say about bible prophecy, but I have to run! The thermonuclear events of 1945, of Hiroshima & Nagasaki are the beginning of seal 6 in Rev. chapter 6, now paused - chapter 7. But the seal is described also including its full progression at 'the end'. This event was also the "long or great sword" given to seal 2 / the second horseman of the apocalypse (element of the age C.E.) war. AND, is 13:13 - but it does not pinpoint a person as so many believe, but an office, so tho huge it goes unseen.

Also big in the world but missed is the "false prophet"/teacher/teaching/theory, which has caused a "falling away" from the faith of western civilization, once called Christendom. Via a "strong delusion".

Read Rev.12 as an insert and a total history of 'the faith' from Israel to Christianity and to Armageddon - considering Matthew 23:39 w/ 12:17(last verse). Can UC the inquisitions & the Mayflower?

    A. People get pulled away by Ideas, But Jesus flatly said, no one will know when. So people who do that are wrong, as you are often wrong

    B. John never said it would happen in his time. But John DID see it happen through his revelation. Which fullfills the words of Jesus which Matthew 16 shared: "Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

    C. When ever something about God doesn't make sense to YOU the failure is not God, but your comprehension

Sure. “End days” and the “end of the world” are two different things in the New Testament.

They wrote of the last epoch, of this fallen kingdom inspired culture, as the “ end days”, which began in the first century and will continue until Christ’s physical return to put a final end to Satans influence.

There are two concepts described as “the end” or the “end of the world”. One happened in their lifetime, the destruction of the Temple way of life in 70AD was the end of their world. They also speak of the end when Jesus comes to usher in peace and life and puts an end to Satan’s inspired world cultures.

The Earth isn’t going to end or be destroyed.
