Excuse me folks; here s a basic question about file conversion...{?

So; -- say I create a docx file with Word Online; or Libreoffice -- and then, say I save that to Google Drive -- : I notice for instance the numbering scheme and possibly headers/footers etc -- are disarrayed! Now if I grab that then from Google Drive to edit in the original program of creation - will everything look exactly like at very first. What about any given file conversion, as a simple law of computing...? Thanks & Jah bless!

every program will work differently, so you should try not to mix programs unless absolutely necessary.

if you want a doc to look the same on every platform, save it as a PDF or a picture file.

of course it won't be editable as those, but that means it won't change either...

Hard to say, some of them might get fixed when brought back into the original program again, but usually if it's saved with it non-native program and then transferred back, then it may not resume looking like its original self. Though these programs try to make importing and exporting to non-native formats seemless there are sometimes things that they didn't foresee, or they didn't have enough information about the file format.

Converting from one program to another and back again is a recipe for disaster.

    Stick with one program!
