Gender and sex use to mean the same thing. When did this change?

They did indeed. When did this change? When a few militant 'our way or no way' confused individuals became desperate while looking for some reason to feel as if their existence mattered. They have actually caused a lot of harm. And interestingly enough - most are NOT transgender people. [The people they are harming the most - ironically]

"Gender" implies a very different discussion, than a discussion about "sex"  They never meant exactly the same thing because "sex" can apply an activity as well as a condition.
