Would this be a good idea to get weekends off?
Every job I had included working weekends but I was thinking about lying to get weekends off when I get a new job. The lie is I can't work Saturday because it's Shabbat and can't work Sunday because I am a big brother. Would that get me weekends off?

These days employment is difficult, if you say you cannot do weekends, then the job will go to someone who can, and believe me there are many applying for same jobs, who will accept weekends just to get some cash and live. You need to be flexible or look elsewhere.

It would get you life long unemployment.
The way to get weekends off is to apply for a job that does not require weekends.

If the field you are in generally includes weekends, you might be out of luck, and very well might lose out on the job. You can certainly tell them that you'd prefer not working weekends, but without offering details unless asked.

No, this would get you fired when they discover that you're not a Big Brother.

You probably simply won't get hired. Why don't you just tell them flat out that you can't work weekends. You still probably won't be hired but at least you aren't lying.

That will keep you from offering you a job. If they are open weekends & it's entry level then you have to work weekends. Once you get to a career job you get weekends off.
