Please help with Psychology discussion question?
If you had a kid who liked to listen to a kind of music you believed was
bad because of the violence in it how would you handle it—would you forbid it, ignore it,discuss it—and why?

I would get them to wear ear buds so they
Could listen to what they like without it
Disturbing you, all judgements aside ok?
Thanks
Very best wishes

If the child was under 13, I'd not let them listen to the music and inform them why. If they're 13 or older, I'd discuss it with them to find out if they are angry, and if they are angry I might send them to therapy while I still have that kind of power. If they are not angry and just have bad taste in music, I'd express my opinion and ask them not to play it around me.

I would discuss it with the child and see why there is such interest. If s/he is listening to the music because peers are listening, I would call attention to being their own person and not following the crowd.

Definitely discuss it. Have you ever told a kid "No" and they listened? Um... Yeah, that doesn't work.
Also me... Blast it on my own system.
Child psych 101... Kids usually don't like what their parent's like. LOL
