    s1 = object distance

    s2 = image distance

    1/s1 + 1/s2 + 1/f = 0

    1/s2 = - 1/s1 - 1/f

    s2 = - (s1 f) / (s1 + f)

    s2 = - (23*34) / (23 + 34) = - 13.72 cm (virtual image)

    magnification is

    M = - s2 / s1 = 13.72 / 23 = 0.6
