How should I handle this Background Check Question?
It asks who my parents are. I was raised by grandparents. Mother abodoned me and lives somewhere in AK, father raped me. I have a no contact order against him for 99 years. It is embarrassing to answer but I want the job in which I am applying and I have made it to the background portion of hiring. I want to write something short, sweet and move on, but not sure how to do it or what to write.

Put raised by grandparents Put there names as grandparents. Mothers maiden name if known. Fathers name if known You need put no other personal information. If mother 7 father were married. That would be on public records. As you say raised by grandparents. All there children would be on public records. Those are easy to find on a back ground check. As public information.

Answering questions about who your parents are doesn't seem to have anything to do with your relationship with them or their parenting skills. Just answer the question generically or, tell them you were raised by your grandparents and end it there. "Why" you were not raised by your parents is non of their business and irrelavant to them.

In this case, you are required to give the names of the woman who birthed you and the father who sired you. If you don't know, you don't just fill in with your grandparents. If you can't find out (almost impossible), then you put, 'not known', but it might result in your not being able to be background checked.

Your mother ran off with the milkman when you were a baby and your father is in prison for 99 years but, somehow, miraculously, your grandparents are decent people - they raised you. Have a laugh and say, laughter is sometimes, the best medicine. Then say, in all honesty, you were raised by your grandparents and you don't remember your parents - you were very young.

Be honest. Notice they aren't asking for your backstory or childhood tragedy. They are just trying to identify you. Just include "raised by grandparents". If they require information upon them, they will come to you.

"I was raised by my grandparents" is really all that's needed.
If they ask for additional information, you could say, "that's not something I'm comfortable discussing at this time" or "my biological parents were unable to care for me and be the family I needed".
