I have never worked out before and want to start. What are some workouts I can do to get into shape? Should I invest in a trainer?

I’m 19 and while I don’t want to lose weight, I do want to tone and get some muscle. What are some good beginner workouts??

Youtube is a good start. FitandNerdy is my new favorite. She can make you tune out like overhearing 2 girls talk about other people at lightning speed but if you stick with it she has great information about the science of working out. Yo Elliot's older stuff was great philosophy and Vics Natural has wonderful practicals.

I'm sure the front page of "beginner workouts" serve just fine too and you might find something even better than I mentioned.

To do this properly you have 2 options,

    1. Do your own research on how to perform the main lifts needed to build muscle (bench press, over head press, squat, pullups etc)

    2. Hire a trainer for a few sessions to teach you the movements - but dont over commit to a trainer to take every session for months, this is a waste of money in my opinion.
