The levers to release the gas cap cover and to open the trunk in my 2007 Kia Spectra stopped working. Is this easy to fix?

About a week ago the levers inside my car to release the gas cap cover and to open the trunk stopped working. The trunk release isn't a big deal because I can open it with my key. The gas cap cover is a different story. There is no way to open it except for the lever inside the car (or maybe with a crow bar). Will this be easy and cheap to fix, or expensive and complicated?

It's interesting that BOTH releases stopped working at the same time. These are simply mechanical mechanisms, with the lever pulling on a cable going to a mechanical release latch. The problem is most likely near the dash levers but you'll probably have to dismantle that part of your dash to get to them, unless you can look at them from under the dash. It's likely not to be too hard to repair, once you've discovered where the problem is.
