Christians/Pro-life people, would it be more moral to get hormonal birth control or get your tubes tied?
Getting surgery is permanent, but I have heard hormonal birth control can cause abortion.

A Christian would want to use birth control that doesn't allow the person to become pregnant and then lose the pregnancy. That would amount to abortion. Although the Bible does speak about "being fruitful and filling the earth" , this doesn't mean that we cannot practice birth control. God, being the loving God that he is, understands our individual circumstances. We may choose not to have children due to issues of our own, i.e. financial, heath, or otherwise. Also,no one should judge another for their choice to have or not have children.

If it is all that bad then why not just hold off on sex or use other forms of protection?!

Not all hormonal methods are the same, and there is a lot of debate over the pill and other methods. From the limited research I've done on this topic, I've concluded the methods to absolutely avoid are POPs and IUDs. These can definitely act as abortifacients and carry a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy. I don't really think regular birth control pills fall into the same category, but condoms are not a bad alternative if you have concerns. I personally think condoms are the safest route for married couples who have pro-life concerns about hormonal birth control. (All sex outside of marriage is sinful...so abstinence is your only option if you are single).
Not all Christians will necessarily come to the same conclusions on these matters. It also cannot be called a sin for you to get your tubes tied, but you want to really prayerfully consider the consequences before doing something permanent like that.

I was pro-life even when I couldn't have cared less about God. That said, the methods you decide to use to avoid pregnancy are entirely up to you but if I'm being practical, why pay through the nose for all this medication when the cheapest and 100 percent effective way exists in the form of abstinence?
