JW What the Bible Scripture John 9:5 Meaning?

I'm not a Jehovah's Witness, but I have the New World Translation which says this in John 9:4-5: "We must work the works of him that sent me while it is day; the night is coming when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the world's light."

I have no idea how the Witnesses interpret these verses, but I think it's obvious Jesus is saying this world is now in spiritual darkness because Jesus is no longer in the world. That's why he sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

However, it's helpful to put this into context, by reading John 8:12: "Jesus spoke again to them, saying:"I am the light of the world. He that follows me will by no means walk in darkness, but will possess the light of life."

Again, not speaking for Jehovah's Witnesses, it seems obvious that those who follow Jesus walk in the spiritual light - no hint of spiritual light becoming brighter with the passing of time. Everything we need to know can be found when we turn to Jesus and follow him, as opposed to following an organization or a bunch of men who claim to be receiving increased spiritual light and truth in order to replace old stuff that is now clearly wrong.
