Test your knowledge: Why are Italicized Words in the King James Bible?

Update:

Italicized words in the KJV text indicate words that were not written in the original language. These words were added in English to complete the flow of the sentence. The translaters italicised these words, so you would know that they were not in the original scriptures.

Its added contextual words that are added to change the syntax of the statement from hebrew which did not use such words, to english

    example

    Without Italics

Psalm 7: 11 "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry every day."

    With Italics

    Psalm 7: 11

    God is a just judge,

And God is angry with the wicked every day.

The "with the wicked " is implied in the Hebrew word usage but does not translate straight across, so they are added to complete the original meaning

Because their typewriter was broken that day, so they rented a different one.

Didn't King James get poisoned at his own wedding? This is why nobody trusts the Swedes, you know.

'free translation' of phrase, paraphrase to English meaning of phrase instead of 'literal tanslation' word for word with loss of meaning of context from original languages- Hebrew, greek, some latin.

KJV isn't a real Bible. It's nothing but a ledger of badly translated text and texts intentionally mistranslated to pander to the queer king and his playmates.

They are inserted words that do not come directly from a "word for word" translation but are essential to complete the thought.

Because in translating from Greek to English, there are grammatical differences in English that require articles and other words to make the sentence right, so those are in italics to make clear that the grammar and syntax adjustment in translation was done. It keeps intact the perfect meaning of the passage.
