What is it like to be a cleaner ?

Just wondering about other people’s experiences.

I had a 1 day cleaning role, was volunteering to clean an office building.

I was given a pair of marigold gloves and shown how to clean the toilet area and then I cleaned the other, polished, hoovered, emptied bins and that was it.

I cleaned for this older lady who had ocd or something--it was too stressful--she had a system I had to adhere to--I even had to replace all the furniture back into the divots that were already in the rug...I cleaned everything every week--and the place was spotless already--I don't think she let people past her kitchen! She would follow me around, giving me "suggestions" as I cleaned...I also cleaned an apt of college guys---the most disgusting mess you'd ever see--but they were really fun--I'd bake them cookies and brownies too...

I've been a cleaner in construction it's hard work you have to work a solid eight hours and get the job done if you expect to make any real money. However if you do a good job cleaning your units you'll get paid a fairly decent amount for each unit that you clean. The trick is to get your unit cleaned and not have to go back!

I don't know. I clean my apartment sometimes. It isn't much fun, but has to be done since I don't want to live in a pigsty.
