How many pairs of shorts do you guys get for your kid/kids for summer?
Mom says 14 pairs and i say 5 to 7. My daughter has all her spring clothes out but when i pulled out my sons shorts from the dresser he doesnt fit in them anymore since he went through a major growth spurt. so im picking some up today. So how many shorts is enough?

Gosh, how things change. When I was a youngster nearly 70 years ago I had one pair of shorts. Of course, underpants were separate in those days, I assume you are asking about garments such as "boxer shorts" with an element of underpants built-in.
I cannot remember about our children in the 1980s, but I think I would have exclaimed about the expense if any of them had had more than 2 pairs of shorts. For the record, I am British.

Buy 5 or 7 pairs of shorts to begin with; that's all he'll need for one week. As the summer progresses, buy more if you need them. If you buy 14 pairs at the beginning of summer, a growing child is probably going to out-grow them all before the summer's over and you will have wasted your money.

About 10, Speak with them about favorite summer activities. Explore and map out if your family can coordinate travel and afford such activities. Some may include art lessons, sports (inside trampoline gums), science, nature, club activities including the YMCA, religious groups, etc. Check with friends to see if you can double-up on activities and transportation, especially if all parents are working full-time=busy kids, busy summer

14 pairs of shorts?! I also agree with the comment about why you'd even discuss this with mom.
Kids don't stop growing and changing until at least 18. Even if they reach their adult height at 16, other changes take place. So my answer is buy as few as possible. When I was 12-13, we lived in cutoffs! I had about 6-7 t-shirts (crops or regular) and 2 pairs of cutoffs.

I have about 10. I can’t wear shorts to work since it’s against dress code. Some shorts though are because i thought i lost the pair of shorts that are similar so i needed to buy a pair of similar shorts in the exact same colour which is why i have 3 pairs of black shorts that are all different. Same reason i have 3 pairs of the exact same sun glasses.

Maybe 5 pairs at most. I wouldn't start with that many, that's for sure. A couple pairs of good quality shorts, then add to it later if needed.
Why is your mom getting any input as to what clothes you buy your children?

Depends on how often the laundry gets done.
7 Seems perfectly reasonable, to me.

depends on how old he is, the faster he is growing i would say the less pairs of pants because youll just have to buy more! if he is done growing then i would say about 10-12 pairs should work. it also depends on how often you want to do laundry!
