In Dr. Strangelove when Major Kong (Slim Pickens) fixes the electrical wiring to the H-bomb in the plane, it releases and he's straddling the bomb, hanging on with one hand, hooting, and waving his cowboy hat in the air like he's riding a bucking bronco as it falls on Russia.

tough to narrow it down to just one scene, so I will cheat and include the first 3 that pop to mind at this moment; the following are in no particular order:

a. Alien (1979) – When the alien bursts out of the guys chest while they are trying to have a last meal before going back to hibernation.

b. Jaws (1975) – When Quint tells his experience of being on the the U.S.S. Indianapolis. Quite spectacular.

c. Saving Private Ryan (1998) - When they were storming Omaha Beach. Really an unforgettable scene. Graphic, and realistic. Giving it some more thought, this scene would be my top pick.

Kelly's Heroes, when the General overhears Kelly over the radio saying he is going to press on (to get the gold) and he says " Listen to that...if he was a captain, he's a major now'.
