Meat makes me sick?

I'm not a vegetarian, but meat makes me really sick sometimes. I can't eat a small piece of steak without feeling like I want to throw up and chicken makes me really sick to my stomach. I really really really love meat, but struggle to keep it down. I've tried everything from eating it more frequently to staying away from it for a week but always get the same results. What's happening?

I don't blame you. Meat should be good for you. Unfortunately, manufacturers bulk up animals with hormones to get more meat. Processing adds other chemicals. You are reacting to the hormones and chemicals, not the meat itself. Try organic; and, if that doesn't work, stop.

You might just not like the texture, Why not try thinner sliced meats? or crispy bacon / ham.

It could be a food allergy, or something in the meat that makes your body react strangely...Or the meat is not fully cooked..Is your meat pink or red in the center? Cause that could be a reason also. Thank you!

    "Meat makes me sick?"

If meat is making you sick, then you may have contracted via a bite by a tick, the alpha gal virus. You're going to need to have a talk with you medical care provider, and have them order up lab work for the alpha gal virus. Do NOT let your primary medical care try to say it's all in the head as some of those who has claimed in their response. If it is the alpha gal virus, then you're going to have to learn more in depth how to get what meat and specifically red meat is richest in, iron, and vitamin B12. While red meat is usually the only type of meat so affected by the alpha gal virus, sometimes more rarely so too is poultry, although from what I've read is very uncommon. While an allergy specialist might be helpful, as suggested, it's best to have your primary care provider order up blood work first, and go from there.

All that said, of you're able to eat fish/seafood, then that will be more than sufficient to cover the vitamin B12, that is found in red meat, and in some cases is found in much higher amounts. However what's known as forage fish, such as jack mackerel, sardines and salmon are far better than those such as tuna, due to having little to no mercury like found in tuna.

Psychological reactions may all be in your head but are still real.

It may not be the meat; it may be the way it is prepared. Or, it may be psychological.

    Or...

have you ever been bitten by a tick = the kind found in a wooded area? These bites can cause a meat allergy, or a meat allergy can develop at any time in your life. If this continues, you should see an allergist.
