Stage 6-7 Alzheimer patient?

86 year old man has stage 6-7 i think 7 at least 6. Falls and breaks hip. Question is he going south pretty quick now. He went from hospital to nursing home rehab. My sister says he has now lost a lot of weight and doesn't look good at all. On purled foods not eating he doesn't like food. I told her he is on this due to his swallowing problem which is textbook stage 6-7. Thanks.

Sorry, but once they break a hip, it is not much longer. I have seen it many times. It seems to be part of the way out of life for many old people.

Somebody I was very close to with Alzheimers simply decided not to eat of drink anything in his last days. He stopped allowing anything in his moith and even though he was extrememly weak, he could fight off attempts to give him sustenance. He died three days later.

Having watched it in a number of cases, I have come to the conclusion that many people, even though they seem incapable of thought, somehow are able to decide when their time is up and will pick almost the precise moment to leave this life.

A broken hip in advanced old age (75+) almost always equals going downhill/dying very soon after. Advanced Alzheimer’s patients are already extremely fragile. My grandma died age 86 from Alzheimer’s. In the weeks before she passed she refused food and wasn’t swallowing well either.

Yes, it sounds like he's going south, a lot.
