Into the twentieth century most people coming into the US settled in what I will call enclaves. Polish immigrants settled in areas with other Polish immigrants (only one example). For example my family name is German and there were about 14 families who settled in the same area that came from Germany together.

This was the manner in which it was done and so more then likely a person who immigrated from the Middle East would have settled with others like them.

As long as they were self sufficient communities no discrimination took place. But if they went to the next town there could be problems.

A quick review show that most of the immigrants settled in major cities and were shop keepers. One interesting thing is they for a long time period controlled 25 silk factories in the North East (New Jersey and NYC).

Not for skin color. Up until 2001 they were considered white.

Yes but those who are light skin, speak almost perfect English, accept American culture as their own's and convert to protestant church. They must have been treated equal to white Americans.
