if it is a gas pilot light no,,turning down the heat dial means less full on burner time & Cu ft of gas used each month,

electric powered igniters use paltry amounts of electricity, you might save a few bucks in a year in that case

Only by a penny or two per year at the very most. The gas is heating the water, so the gas bill would be lower.

IF the gas heater uses electricity for the controls, it will use EXACTLY the same amount regardless of the temperature setting. The heat comes from burning gas, not using electricity.

It may not even save gas, unless it is poorly insulated and loses a lot of heat by means other than using the hot water.

Probably not. Many gas-powered systems don't use any electricity at all, regardless of settings.

    No, just your gas bill.

No. We had one for over 15 years. Never made a difference.

Sort of depends on the system, a power vented gas water heater may run less often. But the electrical savings would be minimal if you could really see it at all.

no. the electrical system on a gas water heater uses virtually no power anyway, and it runs 24/7 because it controls the action of the flame and gas

No. But it will save gas.
