There was a backlash against married women holding jobs. Laws were passed in some states forbidding married women from working in some job categories. Car ownership likely pleated in the early-mid 1930s due to the Depression but became more popular again in the later 1930s as the economy started to recover. Social Security and Medicare was implemented. The minimum wage and 40 hour work week was put in. The New Deal which came out in 1933 helped to bolt the economy some. Unemployment rate peaked in 1933 but remained high until start of US in WW2. Marriage and birth rates fell in the early and mid 1930s as people pushed them things off until they could gain financial stability.
