if you are in the upper echelons of research, then you ought to know that you can go study whatever you want. You choose what you want to look into. Might take some effort getting up to speed, so you know what work could get funded, but that is true about everything.

Knowledge is not wisdom.

You need information AND guided experience to become knowledgable about anything. But if your guide is just as ignorant as the general population, and you love them... then you have become ignorant too... eating up the garbage they fed you.

The beginning of wisdom is this: HUMBLE YOURSELF and get wisdom.
