Why do you have to know someone to work with them? Why can't people just recognize good ideas and learn to meet people they don't know?
People would rather use bad ideas from people they know than good ideas from people they don't know.. why don't we just look for the best ideas even if you don't know a person? Is life all just about being in a club? And if you're not in the club then no matter how good your ideas are they will never be accepted?

I worked 32 years and can say that perhaps 2 people I worked with actually "knew" me. and we never took care of business in bars "club" It seems to be the modern generation and has will to nothing to do with business.

Erm i guess it can be really awkward working with people you do not know at all when you have to work together
