Why do Christians think the world is overrun with gay people?

If you read the rantings, (which they call "sermons") Christians, and especially Muslims, would have you believe that there is a gay wedding happening in every single church all across the world every single minute, without a moment to spare for hetero weddings!!!

Christians and Muslims see gay people absolutely everywhere! and they are fuming!!!

Why are Christians and Muslims so concerned about a tiny few gay folk, while other sins such as murder, violence, rape, terrorism and greed are much higher?

What are Christians and Muslims seeing that I do not? Because gay people are pretty elusive most of the time, or else closeted.

They have fallen for the politically-motivated anti-gay crusade that has been going on for less than a century.

Following some mistranslations in modern Bibles and taking several verses, events, and concepts out of context, many denominations have taken an anti-gay stance. It is ignorant. Being gay is not a sin. It takes a little bit of digging at culture, the Bible, and ancient texts to conclude this.

99.9% of Christians against being gay have NEVER done ANY research of their own on the topic. They are following, unfortunately, the majority of Christians. But not every Christian denomination or individual Christian have fallen for this. In ignorance, many of them say Christians who do not believe being gay is a sin, are following the ways of the world or twisting the Bible to fit what THEY want it to say. I could not disagree more. I think THEY are the ones doing that.

And yes, some Christians do spend a lot of time on this topic.

The only ones who keep mentioning gays, and keeping the topic before the masses, are the gays themselves and their supporters. Christians do not go out of their way to mention and comment on gay people. Your "question" then is nothing more than a veiled accusation against Christians.

You then proceed to try and appeal to relativism, as though that matters. You are either a child of God, through the new birth, or you are a child of the devil, regardless of whether you are gay or not. Being gay is so irrelevant to the grander scheme of things.

That's because it is shoved in our face all the time.

    ...rather like Waitrose's gay sandwich.

Of all the religions, I would be a Christian but I have to say the more I watch TV (especially) of late, the more I am convinced the world IS being over-run with gay people! Or it is just they love being in my face? I really don't think I mind what they get up to IN PRIVATE but I don't want to watch them on TV, and I definitely wish they'd leave marriage alone. Yes, protect Civil Rights but I really can't go with a man standing there talking about his husband (any more than a women talking about her wife, although that doesn't seem to happen so often).

Where are you reading these rants? the internet isnt a reliable source for the way a majority of a group thinks. Christians in the past have been very against gays but on the other side, so wasnt the whole society. In todays times, as with society, Christians are more and more accepting of homosexuals...some churches have gay pastors, openly gay members, and even do gay weddings (not the Catholics though). I can not speak on Muslims since I do not know that environment will enough.

When you're terrified of some group you hate, you imagine that they're far more numerous than they really are.
