If you receive something in a will, it becomes your property unless the deceased indicates that you must keep it or dispose of it in a certain way in the will.
Once it is your property, you can do with it whatever you want.

When your father's Will is read and certified then you would be free to dispose of anything you don't want.

if it is something of " value" you would probably be safer to have the lawyer put it in writing... in case others might object

Of course you can. You accept it as part of your inheritance and then it is YOURS to do whatever you want with it.
