what is the detramint of leaving the old furnace in the crawl spsce?

    Doing the job half way. You can get it out easier than you got it in. The next replacement will be more work because it will be crowded. Why put clothes in a closet when the floor will handle it?

    As it has to be removed somewhat to hook up to the ducts, a sawsall and half an hour would get it out. Why leave it?

    It takes up space. But if the installer of your new furnace says it will have no effect, leave it.

    If the furnace is larger than the access it stays right where it is.
