Leopard gecko heatmat getting to hot?

so i have a wooden viv and the correct setup for the leopard gecko. he eats properly he lays in his hide alot and will occasionally venture out on a night.

the problem im having is my heatmat is getting to hot acording to the thermostat. i have it set to go no lower than 25°C and no higher than 32°C but i find the temps hitting 34°C and setting the alarm off for it being too hot.

should i be worried? what can i do to cool the heat mat down before hitting these temps?

only happens during the day never during the night

Perhaps something like a small towel between the mat and cage, that has worked for me,,that or go the expense of a controlled mat.

2* is not such a big difference. Of course, days are warmer than nights, find a happy inbetween temperature.
