Is it rarer for tall parents having short children or short parents having tall children?

    I know more short parents with much taller children than the other way around. That's only my experience, though.

    Usually children are taller than their parents nowadays. You only have to consider the average male height in The Netherlands a century ago (5ft6in) and now (6ft). An explanation is that younger generations are better nourished and endure less stress than their parents and grandparents.

    The usual rule of thumb is that boys are taller than their mothers. Height is genetic for the most part so if there are tall and short genes in the ancestry, children can be tall or short.
